The Last Sink Bath
We’re on our third child. Our last baby. I say that with confidence, even though I’ve never been great at final decisions. But deep down, I know that she’s our last. She just turned one, and lately, I’ve been catching myself soaking up every “last” moment.
Her tiny fingers playing, her soft curls sticking to her damp forehead, those little sounds she makes just to be heard. It all feels extra tender right now. I know these moments fade faster than you expect.
One of my favorite little routines has always been bath time in the sink. There’s something about a baby in a sink that just feels… lovely. It’s easy, adorable, and timeless. Maybe it's nostalgia, the way generations of parents have done the same thing. There’s something about the warm water, the soft baby giggles, and the way the faucet cleans their hair. It’s like a memory you can feel even before it happens.
I know I’m not alone in that. There’s this unspoken connection between parents who have those sink bath memories tucked away somewhere. Maybe you’ve got a photo framed on your counter, or maybe it’s just a moment you still replay in your mind. That chubby baby grin under the faucet, dishes in the background and the warm towel waiting nearby all wrapped up in love.
For our baths, we always use our body wash + shampoo. It smells fresh and happy, and it’s so gentle that I don’t have to worry about irritation, even on my babies. It’s just sweet, clean baby skin. Afterward, I wrap her up tight and use our baby + toddler lotion to lock in all that softness. It’s become part of the memory too, that cozy, post-bath cuddle where everything just feels calm.
I know the days of sink baths are numbered. The day she gets too big, too splashy, too curious is around the corner, but until then, I’m holding onto every last drop of it.
If you’re still in the sink bath stage, soak in all of the bubbles, the giggles, the mess, the love. One day, it’ll be just a memory that still makes you smile.
